I went for a drive this weekend and saw the beautiful leaves turning colors. Autumn is here and the rain feels cleansing and fresh. Along with the weather, be aware of fresh ideas and new experiences that abound this time of year. See my feature article below for interesting ways that people are using intuition to access fresh ideas and information.
As the holidays draw near, this is a great time to consciously choose to create your own fresh experience of the holidays. Do something you've always wanted to do...eat out or cook something different...dress up just for yourself...create some "me time" to just relax and unwind. Honor yourself and your needs and desires this year and experience a more joyful holiday season of celebration. Intuitive Senses as Valuable Tools
Besides our intuitive senses being the extension of our physical senses, they are tools that can be used to access information - any time, any where. Just as you use a computer or mobile device to surf the internet to access information, you can use your intuitive senses to access information - including answers to your questions. (For a description of the intuitive senses, see my web site at Learn About Intuition)
I love that there are an increasing number of books being published about different purposes for which intuition can be used. Below are just a few that have crossed my path recently:
A Sustainable Environment
In his book Spiritual Teachings of the Avatar, Ancient Wisdom for a New World, author and renowned scholar Jeffrey Armstrong talks about sustainable coexistence for our species and our planet. He indicates that Indigenous cultures use intuitive perception of nature to find and create a balance of extraction and renewal. He says: "Science has two basic methodologies: one is logical/mathematical, the other is intuitive/direct perception...Technological science uses a controlled and detached process to reach its conclusions. Intuition is more a direct seeing that goes straight to the conclusion, skipping the intermediate steps." He describes a global tipping point where "...Indigenous/intuitive listening and mathematical/logical doing are in critical need of mediation and reconciliation." He points out that both of these methods has its strengths and need to be balanced for us to create sustainability.
Intuitive Parenting
Mothers sometimes just know to check on their children, or know something is wrong, without any physical or logical way of knowing. A mother's intuition is expanded in Intuitive Parenting, Listening to the Wisdom of Your Heart by Debra J. Syder, Ph.D. (an intuitive therapist and holistic practitioner). Out of her own personal need, she developed a way to communicate with her special needs child by "...tapping into subtle energy patterns and trusting her heart." She shows other parents a "method of loving communication" with their non-verbal children, and shares exercises to "...increase their awareness of their child's inner wisdom."
Communication with Animals
There are many books out today on non-physical communication with animals. In Laila del Monte's book Psychic Communication with Animals for Health and Healing, she explains how our loving pets sometimes take on the pain or illnesses of their human friends, and shows how "...the physical healing of the animals is directly tied to the emotional healing of the people to whom they are close."
Business Intuition
And of course, my latest, favorite...using intuition in business. Remember your intuitive senses are a valuable resource that can also be used in your business, for everything from decision making and strategic planning, to products and services potential. It's like having X-Ray eyes into your business to access the truth about what is going on, what possibilities and potential exist, and action steps for realizing your business vision. It's just good business to incorporate the quicker, intuitive way. Join us for the Sacramento Second Saturday Art walk and view Daniel Schoorl's dynamic "Dibujos Tangueros" / "Tango Drawings" in chalk pastel. Daniel Schoorl, born in Montevideo, Uruguay, is a Sacramento based artist. Inspired by tango history, culture and music, he has spent the last 2 years working on his "Montevideo Tango Series" comprised of chalk pastel drawings and oil paintings. Daniel has also begun his journey into the dance itself, taking lessons at Tango by the River.

Join us for a relaxing and fun evening of tango music, dance and good company while enjoying this series of drawings depicting the tango mood of the early 1900's in Montevideo and Buenos Aires. Each piece is a visual journey through tango songs, representing the characters and themes of this musical form. This vibrant and detailed body of work was produced within the last 2 years here in Sacramento and in Montevideo, Uruguay, Daniel's hometown.
