Quotes on Intuition
"Clear intuition requires the ability to respect your own impressions."

"I disappoint some people when I discuss intuition because I firmly believe that intuitive or symbolic sight is not a gift but a skill - a skill based in self-esteem."

Both quotes by Caroline Myss, Medical Intuitive and author of Anatomy of the Spirit

Intuition Tips
Intuition is like a muscle - the more you use it the stronger it becomes.

Take a few minutes each day to listen to your intuition.  Close your eyes. Relax.  Take a few deep breaths.  Pay attention with all your non physical senses.  What do you see with your inner eyes?  What do you hear?  What do you feel in your body?  What do you have a knowing about?

Getting quiet and focused in the present moment is one of the most effective ways to access your inherent intuition.

Greetings!

We learn a lot of things in growing up and in school that serve us well, such as healthy physical boundaries ("No - its not OK to hit your sister/brother/friend."), but what's rarely taught is the concept of Healthy Energy Boundaries.  It's often the unseen that impacts us more than we realize.  When we watch or read the "news" or hear people complain, how often to we end up feeling worse than before we started?  What we can do instead is be more conscious of how bad news or complaints impact our own mood and energy level.  By developing Healthy Energy Boundaries we can release any negativity we take on or, better yet, learn how to not let it impact us in the first place.

Next time someone is complaining, rather than agreeing or jumping on the complaint bandwagon, try holding an image in your mind of that person being happier or the circumstance improving.  Not only will this simple action allow you to raise your own energy level, by holding positive thoughts you will be of greater assistance to the other person or circumstance as well.

What's Your Phoenix Rising?
Two different and seemingly unrelated experiences recently coalesced into a common theme:  Releasing or transmuting the old to make room for the new.  We know this symbolically as the Phoenix rising - the bird that goes up in flames, only to be reborn from the ashes.

I had a wonderful dinner conversation with a friend recently, sharing how challenges in our lives caused us to gain new perspectives and begin to create ourselves anew, including how we show up, our work in the world and how we can be of service.  The image that came to us was the Phoenix rising.  The alchemical process of transmuting (burning away) the old shows up uniquely for each of us - from a physical illness such as a raging fever, to a work or relationship challenge.

We observe these cycles of death and rebirth in our external world every year with the changing of the seasons.  What started out as the simple act of caring for my houseplants turned into a potent visual.  As I was watering my Pothos plants I noticed that there were some yellow and brow leaves.  As I was removing the dying leaves I thought about how these plants always grow a greater quantity of healthier leaves right after I prune the old leaves.  It occurred to me that it was a powerful metaphor for observing our thoughts and habits that no longer support us and releasing them to make room for the new.  When I looked up Pothos on wikipedia, it said "...it is a very hardy plant that requires little care." and "This is a robust plant that can stand a very high degree of abuse."  Well, that's great when it comes to houseplants; however we sometimes think of ourselves in a similar way and pay little attention to the signals we receive from our body, mind, emotions, and soul.  By paying closer attention to our bodies, thoughts, and patterns, we can more quickly and easily spot when something is out of balance - instead of waiting until our imbalance is yelling at us to initiate positive change.

I've seen the theme of the Phoenix rising more frequently in 2009 with friends, colleagues, clients, and myself.  This year in particular is about noticing what's not working, releasing it, and creating anew.  Sometimes the Phoenix rising process can be painful.  That's because sometimes it takes something big to get us to think differently, shift our perspectives, get us out of our old habits and initiate change in our lives.  Let's shift that dynamic by making time on a regular basis to enter the Phoenix rising process consciously and purposefully, instead of waiting until something "happens."  Proactively observe what's not working and consciously choose:
·         a more balanced lifestyle
·         more uplifting thoughts
·         who we hang out with
·         what we converse about
·         to live from our purpose and passion
·         how we show up in the world
·         what we contribute

Here's to turning the Phoenix rising process into a joyful opportunity to proactively recreate ourselves on a regular basis.

Wisdom from Other Realms
Enoch on Hope
The following is a channeled message from my guide group who call themselves Enoch - a group of non-physical beings who use me as their conduit to anchor the energies of expansion and service.  I record Enoch's messages verbatim.  I know it is not my job to censor what comes through.  The words, grammar and phrasing are Enoch's, not mine.

"Ah, here we are once again often looking for something that is outside of yourself, when hope - as is many of your other strengths - is inside of yourself.  If you wait for external forces, experiences, or observations to bring you hope, you many have a long wait.

Your saying "Hope springs eternal." is indeed accurate.  Where it springs from is within you - your eternal soul.  Hope is another of your guidance systems.  As with your emotions, it lets you know when you are in alignment with you reason for being in physical form.

If you currently feel far removed from hope, observe where you are out of alignment with your dreams and what brings you joy.  If you have hope, you shine your light even brighter and help others to access the hope that is within them.

Hope is to be shared energetically and verbally as well as with your actions.  This will expand your hope, as well as the hope in the world, and bring a spring to your step and warmth in your heart - your hope center.  Feel your hope growing in your heart as you read these words.  Remember what hope feels like and reach for that feeling when you feel challenged.  We see your lights expand as you access and remember this core part of being human.

Shine your light of hope bright."

For Impact!
I just heard about a web site I think some of you may be interested in.  It's www.forimpact.org.  They help non-profit organizations with fundraising.  I love the category name "For Impact" organizations!  Rather than being labeled based on a tax category regarding what they are purposely not creating (profit) the new name shifts the focus to their true purpose of positive impact.  You'll see on their website that they have a section with free access to lots of information and resources for For Impact organizations in addition to their for-fee consulting and training.  Select "Open Coaching Network" on the top right of their home page.  If you are associated with a For Impact organization, check out this site and share its resources with others in the organization.  Let's share tools and resources for making a positive impact in our world.
Onward the adventure,
